Firebar or out dialed conferencing is used by rual and volunteer Fire Departments and 911 dispatch personnel to call and bring a group of first responders into an emergency audio conference. These systems require dedicated phone lines that terminate on the line side of the central office switch of a phone company often this was done with a Tellabs 291/292 Firebar Conference system. Tellabs no longer manufactures a Firebar solution. This mode of operation is becomes less desirable as phone companies adopt Soft Switch and Digital Loop Carrier based distributed network architecture. Newer server based technology is available to provide Firebar Services with reporting capabilities. The newer Firebar server solutions cost less to maintain and require 1 or 2 U of rack space. The Firebar server can integrate with any phone switch via, Analog Trunks, T1/PRi or SIP connectivity.
